Oregon: Trillium Lake and Mt Hood (2012)

In October 2012, we decided to head to Trillium Lake and Mt Hood. When we left Hillsboro, it looked like we might have a chance to see Mt Hood from Trillium Lake. Unfortunately, the weather changed by the time we arrived, and Mt Hood was blanketed in clouds.

Every trip we took to Trillium Lake ended like this, until June 2019.

Fall colors

Since it was October, there was some fall color, but not a lot.

Mt Hood and Timberline Lodge

We drove from the Trillium Lake area up to Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood. In 2012, Timberline Lodge was celebrating its 75th anniversary as a WPA project.

If you walk around the Timberline Lodge area, there are plenty of views, even without snow on the ground.

Just above the trees in this photo, the visible water is Trillium Lake.

It was a fun day, but I’m glad we were able to get some better photos of Mt Hood from Trillium Lake in 2019.
