Oregon: Yaquina Head lighthouse (2013)

This was the last time I got together with my Google+ photowalk buddies before we left Oregon. That year, we all joined the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk, which was held in October, 2013. We all met at the Yaquina Head lighthouse, in the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area. The photowalk leader arranged for us to be there before and through sunset, after the lighthouse access had closed for the day. I’ve been inside the Yaquina Head lighthouse before, so I didn’t mind that we didn’t have access inside the lighthouse.

The caption on this reads, ” To those lost at sea with special affection for the fishermen of the Pacific Northwest” – I loved the glow of the sunset on this plaque.
As the sun started going down, I got closer to the lighthouse.
I moved around and got other vantage points of the lighthouse, still amazed at not having any people in my photo. 🙂
It was so nice to be able to visit without other tourists around. This photo (without people) would not be possible during regular hours.
