Texas: A quick day trip to escape the heat

It’s been pretty hot and humid this June. We’ve been feeling pretty trapped in our RV, so we made a short day trip to the beach.

Rockport Marina

After our extended stay in Rockport from October 2021 to February 2022, we knew exactly where to go. We wanted somewhere with water, boats, and views, so we headed to the Rockport Marina. We left the RV by 5:45 a.m. and drove 2 hours to Rockport, with a short stop at Starbucks in Victoria for some caffeine.

Some of the boats at the marina.

It was a beautifully partially sunny morning, so while Bob took video of boats and water, I walked around the marina area. There are some stunning sculptures on view.

A turtle sculpture sunning itself on a rock.
Dolphins surfing a wave sculpture.
A sculpture of herons.
A sculpture of a person standing on the prow of a boat looking out towards the water.

We enjoyed our time in Rockport, but by 10:30 a.m., it was getting too hot and humid to be outside any more. We headed back home to our RV and A/C. I’m not going to lie, it was nice to run the A/C in our Jeep all the way back! 🙂
