Texas: Thunder over Dalhart airshow (overview)

I admit it. A sponsored ad on Facebook got me – an ad for the Thunder over Dalhart airshow. I found out about it a couple weeks ahead of time, so we made plans to attend. Dalhart is approximately 69 miles away from our RV park, and we’d never been there before.

The venue

Dalhart is the population center of two counties, Dallam and Hartley. Approximately 8,000 people live in the city limits. The airshow was being held at the Dalhart Municipal Airport, so we headed straight there.

The airport building, which was located near the classic cars.

The classic car show

There was a display of classic cars from the Dalhart Cruzers car club. Here’s a sneak peek of one of the cars on display.

The planes

The airshow started off with the Patriot Parachute Team, who unfurled an American flag on their way down.

There were some aerobatics by Spanky Gallaway and David Martin Aerobatics.

The best part for us was the A-10 Demo Team and the Heritage Flight.

Since I have so many photos from the airshow, I’ll share more in coming posts.
