Arizona: Cottonwood (2016)

This was our first trip in the RV to a state park for the weekend. We left Phoenix and traveled up Interstate 17 northbound, towards Cottonwood and Dead Horse Ranch State Park. As part of the weekend, we met up with some photographers for a photowalk in Sedona. Unlike our previous trip to Sedona, we did not stay for sunset, but traveled down the path closer to Cathedral Rock.

Cathedral Rock during the day.
People do these “rock piles” all over Sedona. Honestly, most of the locals consider this the equivalent of rock graffiti.

We headed out wandering around the state park for sunset, and captured the most amazing sunset with dramatic clouds.

Almost looks like the clouds are on fire.
