New Mexico: Traveling to Deming

As mentioned inย New Mexico: 30 days to the Balloon Fiesta, we left the Phoenix area (high of 109 degrees) for Deming, New Mexico (high of 90 degrees) today.

We got off to an early start, around 7:30 a.m., and headed against the flow of traffic on Loop 202. At that time of the morning, everyone is commuting into work, so except for a couple of miles in Chandler near the Intel Ocotillo campus, we had pretty smooth traffic for rush hour travel.

Normal travel time is approximately 5-5.5 hours, but we also make stops for restroom breaks. While we don’t have to use the rest area facilities, we do have to actually stop so the driver can use the facilities in the RV.ย  ๐Ÿ˜€

It was still pretty warm when we arrived, but it was nice to get setup and actually have our 2 A/C units cool our RV down to a reasonable temperature.

It cooled down around sunset, and the skies were just beautiful!

Almost time for sunset, with a little moon in the sky.

We met most of the convergence attendees at a social gathering, and we’ll be doing some evening and weekend activities as we ease into this socializing thing. ๐Ÿ™‚
