New Mexico: Mass Ascension photos

During the 2020 Balloon Fiesta Siesta, I’m posting a few good photos each day from 2019. One of the coolest things to see at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is the mass ascension each morning. It’s just stunning to see upwards of 600 hot air balloons, taking off one after another.

This video shows a quick summary of our time at the Balloon Fiesta, with some mass ascension footage, especially at the 2:15 mark.

The first successful mass ascension of 2019 – on Day 2.
A wider angle view of the ascension.

As you can tell, there are still plenty of hot air balloons in the background waiting for launch. It’s a constant steady stream.

Just thrilling to see all those balloons in the air.

Beautiful. I love this video. The night photos are stunning. I hope to be able to attend this festival in the future.

    1. If you can work your schedule, the 50th Annual Balloon Fiesta is in 2022. That is going to be a big year! If you want to stay on-site in the dry camping, the reservations for the RV sites open up 9 days after the end of the current fiesta. I can give you some tips when the time comes.
