New Mexico: Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge

On Thursday, we got up extremely early and headed to the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. While it is too early for the 2019 Festival of the Cranes, there were still some sandhill cranes in a few areas. Not a lot, but a few.

Fall color

Mostly, I concentrated on getting some amazing photos of fall colors. Even though the fall colors have not reached their peak yet, there were still enough vistas to capture.

We almost had the entire auto tour loop to ourselves. I think we saw maybe four other vehicles in the entire time we drove around.

Details

As I mentioned inĀ New Mexico: Balloon Fiesta details, I like capturing details.

We will definitely go back. I am hoping we’ll have the chance next week on our way back to Arizona – the Visitor Center has a few RV parking spots long enough even for an RV pulling a tow vehicle. If not, definitely next spring or summer when the seasonal tour routes are open.
