New Mexico: City of Rocks State Park overlook

While we were on the way back fromĀ New Mexico: Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, we stopped into the City of Rocks State Park to check it out. We were too exhausted to walk through the rocks after all the hiking, but we stopped at the overlook close to the entrance.

Clouds in the sky

One of the things I love about the desert southwest is how much the clouds have dimension and depth. When we lived in Oregon, it seemed like the skies were one unbroken gray cloud – no separation from one cloud to the next.

We plan on visiting the City of Rocks State Park this weekend, so we can actually move in and around the rocks. Can’t wait to check it out!
