New Mexico: Downtown Deming

Sometimes, it’s just fun to wander around a town or city and look for the little things, the details that catch your eye.

S Gold Ave and E Spruce St

This intersection had a lot of interesting details. A mural, large representations of Mimbres pottery, and plenty of shadows.

Across the street from the mural is a fountain made with Mimbres style pottery jars.

The sunlight was making some pretty cool shadows from surrounding objects, so I captured those too.

Alleyway between E Spruce St and E Pine St

I’m always very careful when walking down alleyways, and this one had some unusual decoration.

Across the alleyway from the Coca-Cola advertisement was the backside of this historic building, 110 S Silver. This building was erected sometime between 1898 and 1902 as a powerhouse for surrounding buildings.

Deming Arts Park on E Pine St

I couldn’t find out much about the Deming Arts Park, but I imagine it is used for certain events throughout the year, and not open to the public on a regular basis.

There was no way to get into this park from either side.

I’m hoping I get a chance to see more of Deming before we head to Albuquerque at the end of September. For a small town, it has a lot of things to see and do.
