Oregon: Remodeling the RV

We’ve had our RV (a 2016 Fleetwood Pace Arrow LXE) since September 2016, almost 3 years. When we occasionally worked from home, we noted how uncomfortable it was to sit for 8-10 hours at the dinette.

Fast forward to this year, when we started out on the road as full-time RVers. That occasional “pain point” was now a critical pain point. Plus, our cats had three years to scratch the dinette and couch.

Here’s what it looked like before:

Even in this photo, the damage is visible on the edges of the couch.

Before we left Arizona, we contacted a vendor we’d met at the Quartzsite RV show who was from Oregon. We arranged a time to meet and discuss what work we needed, and set up a time for the work.

It happened that if we extended our stay in Oregon by 4 days, we could get all the work done this month.

Yesterday, we met with our custom cabinetry guy, and they removed the dinette and couch, vacuumed the floor, and took out the custom cabinet protecting the cables for the external TV.

We came back at 4 p.m. today to see our new vision come to life. One corner desk for me (on the left), a credenza with a flip out table in the middle, and a corner desk for Bob.

We still have a ways to go to set up things the way we want them, but this gives us so much more storage. We’re happy to have this configured to make it easy for us to work.
