Oregon: Oregon Air and Space Museum

I was looking through the Eugene, Cascades, and Coast website for unique places to visit and ran across the Oregon Air and Space Museum. I am a big fan of aviation museums (see Oregon: Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, Inside the Arizona Commemorative Air Force Museum, Part 1, and Inside the Arizona Commemorative Air Force Museum, Part … Continue reading Oregon: Oregon Air and Space Museum

Oregon: Whale watching

While we were at Heceta Head Lighthouse, we had the opportunity to observe a gray whale down below in the Pacific Ocean. The interpretive volunteers at the lighthouse said the whale had been there for at least 2-3 hours. The whale would stay up for about 3-5 minutes, occasionally spouting through the blowholes. Yes, that's … Continue reading Oregon: Whale watching

Oregon: Heceta Head lighthouse

Just north of Florence on Hwy 101, the Heceta Head lighthouse is often referred to as the most photographed lighthouse in the United States, but a search shows several lighthouses claim the same thing.  🙂 All I know is that the proximity of the Sea Lion Caves and the view of the lighthouse from there … Continue reading Oregon: Heceta Head lighthouse

Oregon: Covered bridges in Cottage Grove, Part 2

In my last post, Oregon: Covered Bridges in Cottage Grove, Part 1, I talked about the Currin, Dorena, and Stewart bridges. This post covers the Mosby Creek, Centennial, and Chambers Railroad bridges. Mosby Creek Bridge While the Mosby Creek bridge is not that far from the Stewart bridge, it is actually still in use by drivers. … Continue reading Oregon: Covered bridges in Cottage Grove, Part 2

Oregon: Covered Bridges in Cottage Grove, Part 1

On the recommendation of the Eugene, Cascades, and Coast, I decided to do the driving tour of the covered bridges in Cottage Grove. Because there are 6 bridges in all, I'm splitting up the photos into two posts. This post will cover the Currin Bridge, the Dorena Bridge, and the Stewart Bridge. Currin Bridge I … Continue reading Oregon: Covered Bridges in Cottage Grove, Part 1

Oregon: Cook’s Chasm

In our last post, Oregon: Devil’s Churn, we headed out to the area north of Florence to visit Devil's Churn and Cook's Chasm. There were so many pictures, we decided to do two posts. After we left Devil's Churn, we headed south about a mile, directly to the Cook's Chasm parking lot. This attraction in the … Continue reading Oregon: Cook’s Chasm

Oregon: Devil’s Churn

On Saturday, we headed out to two of my favorite places on the central Oregon coast: Devil's Churn and Thor's Well. We could easily spend all day at just one of those locations, happily shooting photos and video, but we did actually make it back home at a reasonable hour. 🙂 Both locations are in … Continue reading Oregon: Devil’s Churn

Oregon: Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum

One of our favorite museums to visit is Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinnville. Conveniently, our RV park happened to be located behind the museum, so I took advantage of the proximity. I took my dad to the museum for an early Father's Day celebration, since we were originally planning to be on the … Continue reading Oregon: Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum
